which PCI slot should i use

when installing my sound card (creative labs sound blaster audigy 2) does it matter which PCI slot it goes in? In the manual some PCI slots are "used" and others are "shared" which one do i put this card into? or does it not matter?

It shouldn't matter what slot you use.

But if you vid card has a "piggy back" its a good idea to keep them close just because the wire to connect them is short

As a rule, I've heard you need to try to avoid using the PCI slot that's right next to the AGP video card slot. Alot of times those two slots are shared. It may not be for ALL motherboards but of the ones that share, those two slots are common.

Often the first and last slots are shared with the agp. Try 3rd or 4th, better yet look in the mobo manual and see if any of the slots don't share irq or channel.
