I would go with the TI 4600 but the 9600 Pro has DX 9.0 support. Just flip a coin they are both great cards.

9600 Pro without a doubt. DX9.0 is a major jump forward from DX8.0 and well worth the slight cost difference. You could also look at the 9600XT which will be bundled with HL2 - they are actually offering a load of free HL downloads to 9600/9800XT owners to keep them 'happy' until HL2 arrives.

If you go with the ATI drop the 256Mb version and get the 128Mb instead, while it may have more ram it is slower ram and thus does not perform as well as the 128 card.

The ATI RADEON 9600 PRO 128MB 8X AGP DVI/TV RETAIL is $172.00 with free shipping at newegg or the Sapphire Atlantis ATI RADEON 9600 PRO 128MB 8X AGP DVI/TV OEM is $149.00 with free shipping.

The XT is the top of the food chain for ATI - right now I believe you can only purchase the XT cards through ATI and at big box retailers like Best Buy. ATI is simply controlling the supply chain until there are more cards to be had.

Does anybody have the card for sale? I don't think so... not yet anyway.

And yes, another vote for the 9600 / ATI
