Unhappy t'was death, t'was death. t'was death indeed....

What does a dieing video card look like ?
Well lets start with the obvious and branch out.
It looks like a blank screen.
It also looks like " ATI driver... has failed to load."
It can or cannot be a problem with fastwrites.
It can be whacked dll files.
It looks like, working for a whole week with no trouble and then crashing repeatedly.
It even looks like trouble with ZoneAlarm that no reinstall helps for long and then you install Sygate and the problems continue.
It's finding out that you don't have disk cleanup any more.
But basically it has an amazing ability to make you think the new motherboard you bought is a dud ( I didn't fall for that one ).
My 9500pro is now unmasked as the dieing perpetrator of total mayhem from May to November.
Could so many problems possibly be hardware caused ?
Well, yes.
My new Soltek board is now running with no trouble, with an old 7200 radeon in place of the 9500 pro.
It's time to find out if ATI really means it about that 5 year warranty and if I'll like a 9600XT.
When it was running the pro was great but the end was awful and well before it's time.

The nice new 400 watt Antec that I bought back in June is just fine.
The 300 watt Enermax that I tossed was blameless.

When my 4800's went out the first one looked like THIS and the second one just quit. I'm on my third Gainward card now. I'm thinking that Nvidia might have put out a bad batch of chips because I have seen several other 4800 cards from different brands go out too.

That looks much more interesting then my black and white jagged horizontal lines or just the all black interface I'd get most of the time.

Yes it was bad, in fact, it was awful.
