New Ati video card and Monitor Powersave Problem

First off, thanks to everyone, I have been lurking here to gain info on upgrading my video card for a couple of months. I purchase an ATi 9800 Pro 128 over thanksgiving and I love it for games.

However I have had a few unexpected problems, first the system doesn't always go to screensaver after the selected amount of time. I haven't noticed a pattern as to when it does and doesn't. What really bugs me is that the monitor never goes to powersave (standby) mode. I leave the computer on most of the time so I like using powersave mode. I have checked the config in the windows control panel and power save is still selected.

Anyone else have this issue?

I have used both the Ati and Omega drivers with similar results.

For reference, Alienware system, P4 2 GHz, Intel 850DV board.
