fqpissed Wav. to MP3

how do I make files that i have downloaded from the internet (audio files) in to Wav. format. The reason I ask is because when I try to make the files MP3 format it says that the file is not a 16 bit, stereo, 44.1KHz PCM wav. file. Now i assumed this meant i need to make the file a wav. file and i don't know how to do this. If this is not what i'm suposed to do please correct me and give me any info. you have on this subject. The softaware i'm using is audiograbber.

now i'm really confused. If you havn't already guessed i'm a noob when it comes to the audio category. When i download files off kazaa what format are they in? Are they already in MP3 format? If not what format are they in and would it be better to change them to MP3.

Thanx.

If not MP3, then can be WMA. In that case try downloading goldwave ( http://www.goldwave.com ), open the file, save it as a CD quality wav file, and convert it to an MP3 using Lame.

A little bit of an extended process, but it works.

If you unhide file extensions in your folder options, you might be able to tell what they really are. It's in the View tab.
