Headset mics?
when your on a network (for example a video game server) and you talk into the mic on one of these headsets, does it translate it into text and put it in the chat bar (or what have you) or does it get broadcast as voice through the game?

Actually it's usually neither. Most people host servers specifically for voice communication (the best two apps are Teamspeak 2 and Ventrilo).
So people are running an application besides the game to communicate with via voice. |
