Question EAX question

I was wondering what the difference between Creative Labs EAX, EAX 2, and EAX 3 is. I know that EAX is support for surround sound in some way or another, but I just got Call of Duty and this is the first time I've seen EAX 2 and EAX 3 as options. They all seem to work alright with the sound card in my signature, I just don't know what the difference is. TIA.

S'posedly the higher the number, the better and newer version. EAX 4 is out now.
