I’ve heard that Original Equipment Manufacturing ,OEM, 56 K Modems are very slow comparing it with the none OEM Modems .I would like to know if this situation occurs with the OEM 256MB Sapphire Radeon 9600XT video card. Item # N82E16814102335 From New Egg.

I'm using that very card. Bought it as "bulk", meaning no games included, I think. Not sure where the speed info came from. There's no difference in the hardware between OEM and a Retail box.

Panama Red is right (of course). The only difference is that you won't get a pretty retail box or extra software- which usually isn't worth the extra money anyway. I seldom buy retail hardware anymore.

The only reason that the OEM Modems that the retail box builders use are slow, is that they are usually PC Tel WinModems that probably cost them $0.50 apiece.
When we talk OEM products we are referring to PArts which do not come in retail boxes, but are the same as the ones in retail boxes. |
