Sound Card + Speakers
I was doing some research on sound cards and found that the best bet would probably be to go with the Creative Audigy 2 ZS.
Anyone have good experience with this? It has 7.1 capability for the future; and I believe it's the newst version of teh Audigy 2 Series. Now... I have these POS Sony speakers... it's a two speaker set that came with my OLD OLD OLD sony computer. I built a new box and just kept my old speakers. I want powerful speakers... some say I shouldn't waste my money on some $80 speakers and just wait to buy $400 speakers for the power and capability. I dont need 7.1 speakers.. what are you suggestions on good speakers? |

The Logitech Z series speakers are excellent. If you check out the low priced Z-640s I think you would be impressed. If you want more still than the Z-680's are more powerfull.

My friend recently got some Logitech z-5300's
There really nice, not as high end as the z-680's, but much better than the z-640's I would definatly check them out. If you have a best buy in your area, go and check out some of the speakers they have on display there. |

I'm not expert on speakers, but I do think that going with any of the Audigy 2 series cards is a very wise decision.

from everythink i've heard the longitec z640's are a keeper around this forum but if u want some more power i'd go with these 2.1's which to my knowledge have no flaws. http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_g...f378152aa39a20

O...seems like HP has Klipsch. Didn't know that.
Back on the subject, I went to my local CompUSA store and finally tried the z640s - they're nice. Try them before you buy them - you should be pleasantly surprised. kram

I've been soing some research today and came to the conclustion that the Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultra's are what I should go with. I'll have to wait a few weeks to grab the bread for that kind of system, but If I"m shooting for a high end system,, I might as well go all the way..
Has anyone ever listened to a 7.1 speaker system? If so.. how was it? |

Klipsch's are very excellent speakers, and a good choice. It depends on which review you read as to if the Logitech or Klipsch are better, so it boils down to what your own ears like.
TwoRails PS: no, haven't tried out a 7.1 system yet... I'd have to get a bigger computer room! LOL

For christmas I got the Creative Megaworks 500W 5.1 speakers and I swear for only $200 dollars they were well worth it. they're super powerful great all around, the only thing you might want to know, is that you need to burn in the speakers for a while so you dont blow your speakers.

Ahh.... speakers do not need to be "broke in." They are ready to go out of the box and to be played as you would play them...

OK I got my Klipsch Ultra 5.1 speakers and my Audigy 2 zs installed. All I can say is WOW! Music is awesome, and the sub sure knows how to hand the real low bass. This Sub is huge compared to my old one, I think I'm going to have to relocate it somewhere. I'm going to install and play CoD tonight, so I'll be able to test them out w/that.
I put in ID4 last night, and again all I can say is WOW! Great speakers and I love the Audigy. The Audigy has a lot of cool features I'm not used to... LoL |
