AIW strangeness

Hi Everybody,

Well, I finally upgraded my old GF 3 to an ATI AIW 9800 Pro. I've been loving it for about two weeks now. Then, all of a sudden,

1) When I open up Guide Plus (either from TV or the start menu), the cursor just plain old disappears after about 3 seconds! I can mouse down to the Task Bar, and it will reappear, but disapear once again when moved up to Guide.

2) and, (and I mention this in hopes it will give a clue to the above) when opening TV, it is stuck in the upper left corner of my display.

Both started at the same time, and nothing else appears to be affected. Anybody have any clues or ideas???

TIA

Ya, the day after the original install which was 15 days ago on the 9th. Things have been working fine until about three days ago. The last thing I remember installing was on the 15th, more than a week ago, which was the version of Pinnacle that came with the vid card.

I just discovered a 1/19/2004 driver release (4.1) and I'm D/L'ing them right now!

Something strange happened, but I can't figure out what. I just discovered that ATI has a diag utility. I ran it and it said the WDM drivers are not installed!?! Seeing as I've recorded stuff, and have tried the "tivo" functions, and all worked, something messed up...

I'll do the driver thing and report back

Send a message via MSN to Hi Ho
WDM drivers? Would those be the same WDM drivers I had so many problems with on my GeForce 4 4800? I have them working properly now but I had to uninstall some things first.

OK, I uninstalled the drivers, then installed the 4.1's. Still no cursor when in Guide Plus. Reinstalled Guide Plus, still same problem.

ATI's Web site has a lot of "lost cursor" FAQs, but mostly for older products, and non related to a 9800 that I could find.

Any ideas??

I used a System Restore point and I when back to before installaton of Pinnicale Studio (which came with the card) but after the vid card installation.

It's working now, but I hate being clueless on why... You'd think that Studio 8 is compatible with the card, yes?
