Radeon 9800 128MB vs. 256MB...advice please...
I'm putting together a new system with a Radeon 9800 and wondering whether I should fork out all the extra $$$ for the 256MB version.
It's gonna be a P4 machine with probably 1GB RAM and an 18 or 19 inch LCD flat panel. I'm a casual gamer and want to be able to play Far Cry and HL2 and anything else that comes out for the next year or two. I'm not into video editting though and won't ever use two displays. Should I put out the extra money for 256M, or is 128 enough for good gaming on a decent sized flat panel??? |

The 128mb version of that card is almost identical to the 256mb version so just go with the 128mb because you wont notice a difference.

Get the 128. I've heard that the 256 uses slower memory (is that true?).

The extra memory will only help once games with larger textures come out, until then 128 should be fine, unless youhave the money, then go with teh 256 model or the XT.
