LCD brand recommendation???
I'm looking for a new 18 or 19 inch LCD flat panel and would like some brand recommendations. Are any of them especially good? Any to stay away from???
Thanks... |

I've heard Samsung is the way to go, though they're expensive...

I've used Viewsonic for some time, and it worked great. I would also personally recommend Sony - but you tend to run into budget problems with Sony. Also, I can say that Sharp is also pretty good. Go with the one that fits your buget.
Hope that helps, kram

Samsung would be my pick. Sony would be also but they are so expensive.

If you are on a budget, KDS is a lot of "bang for the buck".

Here's another question about this...
If you search Newegg for 19 inch digital LCD panels, the least expensive models are all no-name brands (no surprise there). I would normally stick with a good name brand, but some of those no-names have gotten great reviews there. Do you think it's worth it to go for a generic panel with good reviews to save $50 or $100 over a big name brand? |

Eh - depends. I would personally try my very best to stick with name brands, but if you need to deviate a little for that much money, you might as well, I guess. What brands are they? Personally, to save money, I would just reduce to 17' LCD, but that's me. I've had some luck with going with these brands, but then again, some have gone wrong.

Here's one I was thinking about. It's a Sceptre. It's $120 less than the cheapest name brand...a Viewsonic. There are a few other generic ones that also have a handful of good reviews, but this Sceptre has 19 five star reviews. I don't totally understand all the technical specs of these things. Besides it being a no-name, is there anything in the specs that should be a red flag to me? It's gonna be plugged into a Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB on an Asus P4P800. Thanks for the help, All... |

I have seen quite a few Sceptre's around. I don't know anything about them however.

Sceptre is not bad.
Specs you need to look for - you want the highest brightness, highest contrast ratio, and lowest response time. Also, compare warranties. DVI is a plus if your card is DVI-capable. |

I just recently bought t a 17" CTX. It's very nice. I haven't seen any ghosting or any flaw at all.
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...103-173&depa=1 (yes that review is mine) Just so you know, ABS bundles CTXs in their systems. That's one of the reaons I went with it. ABS makes good machines. |
