Question Resolution and color quality ...

I just bought this Shuttle MN31N mainboard mainly cause it has dual vga onboard. I'm using 1280x1024 resolution on my 19" monitor and all I can get is 16 bit color Is this a limitation of the gpu? Highest resolution for 32 bit color is 1024x768 which is a bit small.

It has a GeForce4 MX integrated gpu. I changed the memory size from 32mb to 64mb and no go.

Argh, Thanks, Jason

Hmm changing it from 32 to 64mb should have fixed that problem. It might be the limit since it is outputting to 2 monitors.

Its only running 1 monitor right now. Should I have changed anything after I went into the bios and upped the memory to 64mb. Like reinstall drivers?

Thanks for the reply

I looked around but couldn't find the actual specs. It could be very simply that it can't handle that res at that color depth.

Here's the "detailed spec sheet" for that mobo, and it doesn't mention anything on it:

To get 32 bit color at 1280x1024 should only need 8mb of video memory. Have you tried installing the latest Nforce2 drivers from Nvidia?

No, I just used the Detonator drivers, 45.23 I think.
The nvidia shows the 53.03 ForceWare drivers as the current geforce series graphics driver.
Where would the nforce2 drivers be?
I installed the mobo cd drivers and that took care of sound, lan and chipset but not graphics. Maybe I should look further on the cd.
Thanks for the replies!

I got it figured out. The detonator drivers on the mobo cd are 41 series detonators and once I installed those it works to have 32 bit color at high resolutions. YAY
Thanks for the help yall.
