MSI KM4M-L onboard Video

I just built a computer with the above motherboard and an Athlon XP 1500. It has 256 MB of PC2700 memory. When I boot the computer, it shows the windows 98 screen fine, but then when it goes to the desktop it shows squggly lines and then shows 4 desktops on the screen. Any ideas?

Boot it into safe mode and reset the resolution/color depth to 640x480, 16 color and go from there. You have an improperly installed video driver and/or the wrong monitor .inf file installed, the reason you are getting that display is the driver is set to a resolution/refresh rate that the monitor can't handle.
