2.1 or 5.1 speakers??
I'm planning to buy speakers mainly for music but i cant decide if i should buy 2.1 speakers priced around $100 or the 5.1 priced around $150. I'm a college student living in a dorm so i need to spend as little as possible. I'm leaning toward the Logitech Z-3 2.1 it takes less space and it is loud enough in dorm but the 5.1 keep coming back on my mind.

I have the Z-430's, and I like them. They're good for music.

Honestly, the 5.1 setup is more for a realistic gaming experience or for viewing DVD movies in surround sound. If music is your primary focus, a quality 2.1 like f_f mentioned is fine.

The Creative Inspire 2500 and the Logitech Z-340 are both great sets of 2.1 speakers. I use the Creative set for my music room computer at home.
Klipsch makes some VERY nice 2.1 speakers, but if you are on a tighter budget, they aren't worth it. |

Check out the Logictech Z640, 5.1 $70ish i believe.
They get pretty loud, and itll be more than enough to shake ur dorm

Klipsch 2.1 refurbs - $99 at klipsch.com. All you need to blow away your dorm floor.

Klipsch and Boston Accoustic are two speaker professionals that have transitioned into the PC market, rather than peripheral makers who now do speakers. If you're looking for clear and crisp, that's probably where you will find it.
