Audigy 2 ZS / ATI AllinWonder 9600 Pro TERROR!

Hello,

I installed an ATI All-In-Wonder 9600 Pro Video Card in my PC recently. This card allows me to enjoy viewing DVDs and TV on my PC. Here was my original setup:

- ASUS P4PE (rev 1.03) w/onboard AC97 Sound w/SoundMax drivers (latest motherboard bios installed), Gigabit LAN
- Intel Pentium 4 2.4g 533MHz Bus
- 1 gig DDR333 RAM
- 80 gig Maxtor 7200 rpm UDMA 133
- Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 1
- ATI All-In-Wonder 9600 Pro (Radeon) 128meg Video Card

Everything was working fine. Then, because I want to do some video editing, and wanted to upgrade my sound, I disabled the AC97 and uninstalled the SoundMax drivers.

I then installed a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Sound card. This is the ONLY hardware change I made.

Now, when I open ATI Multimedia Center 8.9, I can still do everything except watch TV on my monitor. When I try to start the TV, I get a Windows error message: "ATIMMC.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

This error message occurs every time! I have the very latest Audigy 2 and ATI drivers installed. I tried deleting and re-installing the drivers for both ATI and Audigy 2 cards. I also tried moving the Audigy to other PCI slots. But the same error message keeps popping up! The TV viewing mode is the only thing I get error messages for - the DVD viewer works perfectly!

Then, as a last resort, I uninstalled the Audigy 2 drivers and removed the Sound Card altogether. I then re-activated the AC97 on-board Sound card and reinstalled the SoundMax software.

Guess what! I am able to watch TV using my ATI card again!

So, here's my questions:

- Is there any way I can salvage the setup to get my Audigy 2 ZS card working with the ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 Pro Video Card?

- Can I capture and edit video effectively with the AC97 on-board sound from my ASUS motherboard? Or should I try another sound card (Any recommendations)?

I appreciate any and all suggestions!

Regards,

Nordie

You can try a search or post your problem with these guys : http://www.rage3d.com/board/forumdis...?s=&forumid=24

You are also over due for an e-mail to ATI tech support. This sounds like their sort of thing.

Thank You!

Pam,

Thanks for the reply.

I already e-mailed ATI (never heard back from them). I ended up calling them today, and after about 20 minutes on hold, I finally got through to a tech.

He sent me some info that proved invaluable. He had me delete the ATI drivers, then go into the registry and delete some specific settings. I then reinstalled the ATI drivers, and BAM!!! Everything worked!

The link you sent me was also very helpful! While at that site, I also found another site that was very helpful:

www.tv-cards.com

Anyway, many thanks for the help!

Regards,

N~

Send a message via AIM to i3OSS
Try installing a previous version of the catalyst drivers. and the newest audigy drivers.
