TV PC connect
I got a new Digital TV so I connected it to the PC and everything seems to be working fine except a couple of thing. I know the TV picture lags but is there nething I can do to improve it? And more importantly, I can't play any of my videos on the TV. It shows up on the computer monitor but not on the TV. Anything that uses the program Divx, Windows media player, real, etc. The weird thing is, when I'm playing music, the graphic thingy on windows media player when you play music can be seen on the TV. I connected my computer with the TV through a S-Video cable for the picture and a Y-cable for the sound; so i'm not using the TV directly as a monitor. Neone help?

Is the TV connected as a second monitor (they both show the same thing)? Or is it as two monitors?
Try dragging the media player window off you screen to the right, and see if it shows up on the other monitor. If it does, try fullsceening it. |

its not a monitor, I'm using it to relay exactly what I have on my monitor through the video channel. I'm using an S-Cable. Everything thats on the monitor shows up on the TV EXCEPT for anything that is related to video files. Everything works fine, like games and flash movies, etc., just not the videos.

The TV picture should not lag. It should look just like the computer monitor.

If this is an ATI card, there are two small buttons in the ATI Control Panel where you tell the card to output to the TV. You will need to click on the one that looks like some circles inside each other to get videos to show up on your TV. I had the same problem and it took me awhile to figure this out as well. It's the output format that is the problem.

Thanks QuickSilver, its working!
Now I just need to know how to record this thing onto my VHS. The VHS player has L1 and L2 modes but my computer is hooked up as S-Video 1 mode on the TV right now. My VHS player only has L1 and L2 for composite 1 mode and composite 2 mode on my TV. Is there any way I can add video modes onto my VHS player so I can get my VHS player to record my s-video 1 mode so that I can record what I'm doing on the computer onto a VHS? |

You can get an S-video to composite adapter at Radioshack

Cool! Glad to hear it works. The simplest thing to do if you want to record is get a little adaptor that converts your s-vid port to a standard RCA video out. It is small, costs just a couple bucks. Some ATI cards come with one. Some people will tell you there is no such thing, but I have one sitting here on my desk right now, so there is too!
