I received delivery of a new Dell 17" flat panel LCD monitor yesterday, but have been experiencing an image quality issue. There are horizontal 'ghosting' lines running across the screen. Some of the darker colors also appear transparent to some degree (this might just be an effect of the ghosting lines running through them making them appear transparent).
I am unable to obtain Dell support on the product because I purchased through a re-seller and the monitor is not part of a Dell System. I have run through all the provided diagnostic exercises for the monitor and have made sure that I have the proper monitor and video card drivers upgraded. The monitor is hooked up to a four year old Gateway system (PIII 55MHz, 354mb RAM, nVidia Riva TNT2 video card). The monitor is attached via a swithbox, but I have also attempted hooking it up directly and with different cables. I have also tested the monitor on a 1 year old Dell System and an eight year old Gateway system running Win95. The image quality is fine on both of the alternative machines. Could this problem be a result of a faulty video card? If so, any suggestions? Thanks for any help that you can provide. |

You answered your own question - it's your video card.
