video card problems
this is not the time i am having problems with my graphic card. first it was the pc refusing to boot because of the graphic card. Now not only do my card show a few thouasnd pts lower in 3dmark2001, the card also hang when running far cry demo for the first time of the day. it is only when i reboot then will i be able to run it. i am not sure whether it is because of me overclocking. i have broght down the clock speed to default.

Overclocking anything always has a degree of risk. If you return *everything* to stock speeds and still have problems, it's very possible you have fried something.

everything at stock speeds. and it is not working properly. my graphic card now suddenly stop working and the monitor will shut off but the speaker and everything elses still work. after i reboot, there will be the vpu recover and the pc will be working on the windows drivers. then, i have to reinstall the drivers to have it work again. this thing will keep on repeating. does this mean i have to replace it with a new graphic card?

This card is normally quite a good overclocker so I don't seen why this could happen except if you really pushed it too hard. Artifacts are usually a sign of this.
Also, since when has that happened? Has your card been running well up until you've used the demo? You can try a few things to troubleshoot: -Download the latest drivers and install them -check that the card is solidly in its AGP slot, its fan is working and all leads are well plugged in If those don't work then your card probably has a serious problem and you might need to buy a new one. Take a close look at the demo, though fedz

i don't think i have pushed the card too hard. i stopped at 567/344 which turned out to be stable when i ran 3dmark2003 5 times without any problems. this problem started before i used the demo. i am using the latest drivers and i am sure that the card is seated in the agp slot properly. the fan is working properly. is there any other way out? cause i bought this card only months ago.
sorry for taking so long to reply, been busy. |

Try and roll back the drivers to a version that workied for you. The important thing is not the latest, but the best drivers. If you have another graphics card try putting that in and see if it workis. If it doesn't, your card's alright but there's another problem, if it does, then you've probably fried something.
