I have movies that I striped using DVD Shrink 3.1 and saved them to the hard drive ? Now I have purchased some DVD + RW Disks by Verbatim do I need to go out and purchase a DVD burning software like NERO ver 6 or can I use my program that came with my Dell system ? It came with Sonic MyDVD LE Version 5.0 & Dell Cyberlink Power DVD Does it matter as to whether I use DVD + R or can I use DVD + RW ?
Thanks |

Thanks for the reply. My DVD Burner is new only a month old so I would hope its not first generation It came with my Dell system It is an NEC DVD + RW ND-2100AD, My movies are stored in a folder C:\BIN\MEDIA\MOVIES So you are saying If I purchase NERO ver 6 that should do the trick ?

I'm not sure what the "LE" version of Sonic is. I've used Sonic MYDVD that includes Record Now DX with DVD Shrink to copy about 50 movies.

Your Sonic version should include the DVD authoring software as well as the burning. It's all sort of a built in, wizard type of thing.
Open Sonic, load your files, author (add chapters, menus, etc.) and burn. Although not the most intuitive program, it does have basic authoring ability and burning (recordnow) ability built in. DVDShrink should have saved your rips in a useable format. |

In my experience, Sonic My DVD is not at all user friendly, and all it's features are hidden behind various no-brainer menu options. If you try to think like the idiot that designed it, you'll be ok, but if not, invest in a decent burning program!

Agreed, Sonic sucks, but that's no help to Eaglekeeper1.
Either help with existing software, or recommend something that will do the job. In this case, I would recommend TMPGEnc DVD Author, and Nero. Any good burning software should be able to take the output and burn it to dvdr. Only use dvdrw for testing and temporary use. Once you have a dvdrw that works properly, do a direct copy to dvdr. + or - shouldn't matter, but only you know for sure. Look up the specs on whatever dvd player you are going to be playing the dvdr in. Most will take - and +, however + is becomming slightly more rare. If you want a really good program that will take SVCD or DVD compliant mpegs, author them with menus and chapters and allow a very professional looking output, get DVDLab www.mediachance.com One of the best, and under $100, far more options and flexibility than tmpgenc dvd author, Sonic mydvd, Nerovision Express et al, and comes with a built in ASPI burning engine that should work on almost all burners. |
