VHS to digital
Is there a way to take a vhs tape and record with a digital camcorder so I can get my old vhs on my pc without getting a seperate piece of hardware to convert it?

If your digital camcorder has analog input, then yes.

Most consumer digital video cameras (miniDV and Digital8) have analog video and audio jacks that operate as input and outputs. Most of those will also work as a pass-through - meaning you can run your VCR to the A/V jacks on the camera (set in playback mode) and run your firewire (IEEE1394) cable from your camera to your computer. Start your video capture program and press play on the VCR.
