No Internet (But Harder to figure out)

Alright, here we go! I see that this is a common problem for everyone not able to browse the internet, but my situation is a little different and a bit more difficult to resolve, or I am just stupid and its easy to resolve.

I have a network of 5 computers 2 xp and 2 2000 servers and a Novel 5.1 server. I have DHCP and DNS enabled on my 2000 server. I got hit with a couple bugs and adware and temporarily kept me from bowsing the internet. I took care of it and got it up and running.

My client, dual os (xp/2000 pro), however I got to work but then quit working again one day. When I boot 2000 everything works fine, boot xp and oops no internet. Tried everything to rid of the adware and couldnt. I keep an image with Norton Ghost for backup, incase this crap happens and slapped it back on. Now I have a nice new copy of xp, running with no adware, atleast not to my knowledge.

This is a good image becuase I have used this before. Still no internet. Then I tried putting the image on again, still doesnt work. Then I decided there might be some stuff on the partition that keeps comming back with each new image I put on, so I formated the partition and reimaged it again. And guess what? Still doesnt work.

Here is the problem. I can ping everything, by ip or by name, not the problem. Since I have DHCP enabled every client gets the proper information for DNS and Default Gateways. I have even verified all the info on the other computers and they all add up. I have released and renewed just in case, all works great but no browsing. I cant see how I could have adware since this is an image, before adware really came out. Virus you say, I dont think so, I have Corporate Edition of NAV and is updated and scanned nightly. No viruses found!

I can view the homepage, regardless of what it is, but then no other pages after that. If I choose yahoo to be my homepage, I open up the browser and bam it works, click on any link or type www.yahoo.com into the url, and "PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED!" hehe, I hate that.

Sounds like I have adware or a virus, but I dont know how that is possible. I have used this imaged a couple of times in the past, and I formated the old partition. The only thing I can think of is that the image is located on a second IDE drive located on the same computer. Is it possible for a virus to attatch to the image and load itself after the image is installed?
Please help I am tired of researching this!

Ok, I tried your netsh command, I am not sure what that is, fill me in, I love to learn something new. Didnt work though! The external DNS, already setup. I tried both provided by my ISP, and even tried the one I have internal. I ran the winsock fix, but didnt help. Remember now, I can load the very first page, and only the first page. It does indeed hit the dns, finds the site, downloads the page, but after that, anything you click or type wont work! I can ping everything, name or IP, so IP connectivity, DNS, routing solutions wont help! What happens after it loads the first page is where the problem is.

Allthough interestingly enough, not that this will necessarily help, but I have a page of my own, on my webserver at home. Obviously I can hit that, because it is local, however all the links contained on my site to external pages, work just fine. Then when it downloads those sites, I cant do anything after that, and again back to the cant display page error!

Gotta be some kind of virus, but none can be found. I have never herd of anything like this! Any other ideas?

try running spybot search and destroy, and any online virus scanners you can find

netsh /? will tell you what it does..

Basicly i told it to reset the tcp/ip stack back to original state as some spyware etc bork it up..
