IE ERROR. Please Help!

After surfing the web the on some questionable websites I started recieve an error when trying to open internet explorer. I run IE 6, run on cable modem, and run Windows 98SE. I have run Reg Seeker by Hover and cleaned out my temp internet files, but that has not corrected the problem. When I try to open IE it donesn't even open the page is just gives me the following error and only lets me hit "OK". Everything else works fine, i.e. Outlook, Soulseek (which runs from internet). The following is the error:

EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in
module ATLID32.DLL at 0167:01e544a0.

Then is tells me to reboot to fix the problem.

Any suggestions to help solve this problems would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

See if IE will open using the "Windows Update" shortcut on the Start Menu. If so, the problem is most likely spyware.

If you haven't already, download, install, immediately update and then run Spybot and/or Ad-Aware. Read the help files to familiarize yourself with how they work. I recommend you use them both since each tends to find things the other misses. Let them clean up any spyware found.

If you are running Win98, IE6 can be really problematic. I recommend you revert to IE 5.x for best results. You do this with add/remove programs, IE6, add/remove, restore previous configuration.
