Ive been surfing the web for three years now.. and have yet to fiqure this out.......
I use mainly IE5.0. My question has to do with temp internet files... If I go to my temp internet files in windows and delete all files ... It may look like theres nothing in there, but if you right click after delteing and choose properties theres 40 mb inside this file. Now if I choose to explore the temp internet file it does show a file called content IE5.0 and another called OLK7312 Inside of the IE5.0 theres lots of files with similare words no.s like 531azky 4535kso ....... Can someone who knows what the heck this crap is in my internet temp files? In the past Ive had virus scan find problems inside these folders also...... Can I safely delete this IE5.0 file?? please give me some good info here. on what these mysterious files are Thanks for your help |

There are hidden files, and there are hidden files.
Delete the whole folder (from DOS if you like), and windows will rebuild an empty folder, the next time you startup. You could even put a couple of lines in autoexec.bat to do this automatically on startup thus: cd windows deltree c:\windows\tempor~1 /y (I think that's the way, I'm doing this from memory...) |

Bruce,
Also, you would be well served to upgrade to IE 5.5. It’s a major upgrade and improvement. Much faster and more stable.

You can go to MS Update page or MS main site.

Or grab the latest issue of Maximum PC magazine. I think it's on the free CD, or just use the otherwise useless AOL CD ver 6.0, it's on there full version as well.
