Fire Fox and Thundirbird

I have a few question that I can't seem to find the answers to, and I was hoping you all could help me. First of all is it impossible to pickup spy ware and adware from Fire fox or is the security threat just less with this browser? Second when fire fox and thunderbird reach 1.0 are we going to have to pay for it or will it still be free?

I really like these programs, but I'm not sure i like them enough to pay standard software prices for them. I am still playing with these to programs and finding extensions and such that i like.

Food for thought
When do you think Internet exploder will get with the program and be more like fire fox and mozilla?

It's not impossible to get spyware. Especially depending on your browsing habits, but I've found it does limit the amount you do get. One thing I like is the ability to choose which cookies are accpeted, rather than just having to accept all or none like with IE. Remember, just because you use a different browser doesn't mean you can neglect to go through your regular maintenence with spyware checks and anti-virus scans.

As far as I know, the Mozilla products will continue to be free of charge.

Firefox isint 100% secure, nothing is unless you unplug your pc from the internet but it is alot more secure than IE. Mozilla products are all free, even at 1.0+ but you can donate and get a t-shirt .
Dont think IE will ever want to copy others with their idea of quality, they like to go the other way Didnt they announce that they were gonna stop making it anyways?

Any Open-Source software, such as Mozilla products, openoffice.org, etc. will always be free...Mozilla as mentioned above is more or less run by donations, monitary or expertise in programming. I don't think Internet Exploroer will ever be liek Mozilla...at least for another 3 or 4 years...maybe with longhorn! LOL! I never heard that they were goign to stop making IE...
