Yay! No more ads!
I just installed a plug-in for MyIE 2 called "Remove page annoyances". It really works. When I had Firefox I tried a similar thing but it didn't work. I now have no banner ads, floating ads, or annoying sounds. It's really nice. It also says it "removes link trackers". What does that mean?

A link tracker is something like a cookie that tracks every click you make on links on a web page. Then it sends it to "where-ever" it sends it too. Like a tracking cookie sends your brousing habbits to the website that "planted" it. There by someone knowing your brousing habbits, and every site you go to.

Oh, so they are basicly the tracking cookies that Adaware and SpyBot pick up.

Yes, and the best example is doubleclick.net. Spybot and Adaware will catch them and get rid of them. And if I remember right, Adaware 1.3? the updated version has a way of blocking them all together. Inoculate? I think. Anyway when I go down through the list doubleclick.net isn't there, and it always used to be. So there is some kind of a cookie blocker in the program. Don't have to worry about that one now, and can add cookies to the list to be blocked as well. But I will have to check into that more later. Gotta go to work.

I am using the plugin for Firefox, AdBlock, and it does work pretty well. It almost reminds me of installing a software based firewall, it takes about a week to train it to what is good and bad, but now that I have, I am ad free. Granted there will still be one or two ads around, but I just right click, ad-block them at the source, and any new ads fromt hat source will automatically be blocked.

Try GreenBrowser at http://www.morequick.com/indexen.htm ... Plug-ins are available, but I've never had to use one.

Is that Apple only? Even if it is for windows the layout looks too busy for me...too much nonsense going on.

I tried that and it removed things I didint want to have removed like the top of some pages and even avatars. I just block images from sites in ADhunter. But the one I tried was called "disable page annoyances" so I dont know if it was the same one.
...just converted to myIE2, got addicted to the mouse gestures

Hi Hi Ho:
I've been over quite a few posts extolling the virtues of MyIE2, I just wanted to point out somethings about MyIE2 that I feel that should be made aware of. MyIE2 or Maxthon, far from being a unique browser it is a browser shell. Which means that it is based on the same engine that runs IE. An example of such browsers is also Avant. Agree that its increased privacy settings provide you protection from ads and other privacy damning scripts; however it should be noted that MyIE2 has the SAME core vulnerabilities as IE. It is in NO WAY a patched version of IE. |

I know that. However, I see no option in IE to disable such things as ActiveX, scripts, and such. It is very easy to disable those things in MIE2.
