My Browser has schizophrenia
Most of the time my browser and I have a good working relationship. Then there are those moments when it becomes someone else completely and I no longer recognize it as the same browser I used to use.
Every time I restart my computer after installing Windows and AV updates and connect to the internet , Explorer will pop up two windows with 2 different home pages on them. One is PC MECH and the other is a website that used to be my homepage a long time ago. Earthlink has this toolbar which pops up at this time while reverting back to a default login prompt, completely ignoring my saved password setting. I have scanned for viruses and turned up nothing….I have cleaned out my temporary internet files…no luck there either. My question is this. Why has IE cached this particular site to pop up everytime I restart my computer?? Is there a way to stop it? Also…are there more existing files files in my computer besides the temporary ones? If so, how would I go about removing those? I would like pcmech.com as my exclusive home page…and I don’t like the idea of sharing it with some alternate site. Any tips, advice and solution(s) are greatly appreciated….thank you...btw…Keep up the good work PC Mech ! |

Try running adaware and spybot. Then install google toolbar to help stop the pop-ups if it isn't removed by adaware or spybot.
