If I am not in the correct forum can you please set me right?

When I try to download a program, I get the "download manager" which tries to put me in a part of the computer that does not exist. Then a error message appears telling me to "download to disk first". I just don't know how to download to disk. Can you please help on this?

Download manager is in Mozilla tools but little help.
Sure hope this makes some sense.

Try going into the Mozilla options, go to the download section, and you can choose "Ask me where to save every file" if you want to save things to different directories a lot; or you can choose which directory you would like files to be downloaded to. I'm not sure if it's exactly the same since I'm using Firefox rather than Mozilla.

Bigandy, Thank you for the reply.
I should have stated that I am trying to work in "Netscape Mozilla" and very new at best. I think you are on the right track to help me, but as I say very new. Searched all the tool bars but find no options. Any futher suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if it will work for yours, but try one of the following options:
In the address location type: about:config
scroll down to browser.download.defaultFolder and double click on it. Now you should be able to change the location to a known location. Do the same to browser.download.dir and browser.download.Lastdir
The other option is to edit the user.js and add the line:
Quote:
user_pref("browser.downloadmanager.behavior", 1);
0=download manager, 1=simple dialog

My thanks to both Bigandy and Statica.

After much fooling around here is what will work for me, you both put me on the right track, however.

Netscape - Preferences - Navigator - helper applications -applications/x-msdownload - edit - "then type where you want to download"

Seems like a long way to go, but it will do the job.
Thanks again,
Bill
