Pages not being stored in cache
I'd appreciate if someone would be able to help me with this problem.
I've noticed now on many different forums which use the v-bulletin 3.0 software that none of the pages I visit with IE6 will be stored in my temp interent files folder, this forum being no exception. The images and other files are stored but not the html pages. I've never had this problem with any other sites/forums and I don't know whether it's an issue with my computer or the software itself doesn't allow it cause other forums using the previous V-bulletin software seem fine. Can anyone please check whether or not when they are using IE6 (win XP home) if pages from this forum are stored in their cache just so I can verify if it's just an issue with my computer or not? The main reason I ask is that pages I've already visited are much slower to load and I can't read or save threads of interest offline anymore cause they are not stored im my cache. Appreciate any help, thanks. |

Allowing cache-ing of HTML files is pretty much the website developer's choice. It is quite possible that the software or the maintainer of the forum has decided to turn off the ability to cache the webpages. Remember that these pages are brought to you by the magic of PHP, and PHP can be quite specific about not allowing cache-ing

Thanks for the reply. If it's not too much trouble and you are using IE6 could you check if html pages from this forum are being stored in your cache?
I have just tried at least 4 different forums using the vBulletin 3.0 software and none would save to my cache any html pages. The wierd part to all this is that I just installed Mozilla 1.5 and although I couldn't tell if there were any html pages in the cache folder, I can while offline view pages from this forum that I've clicked on which means it must be saving them to the cache. I must say this is a bit confusing for my average computer brain.
