Which P2P are good?
Hello.
I have heard that Kazaa Lite Ressurection is good but I want to know if there are any better ones out there? Thanks Computer_User |

Kazaa Lite was the only one I knew that wasn't loaded with spyware and such. I haven't used Kazza or any other P2P since 2001 since there was so much adware...IMO you should stay away from any of it. But if you really want to keep it, stick with Kazaa Lite...
You could pay $25 and get Kazaa Plus Last edited by icallmedan; 08-03-2004 at 08:46 PM. |

Thanks, but there is this one little "klextlock" thing that keeps popping up either on my desktop or a folder where I store music. I did a google search for it and it told me how to get rid of it by putting "C:\Program Files\Kazaa Lite Ressurection" in the Start In box by right clicking on the desktop icon and then go to properties. I did that but it still returned. If anyone knows how to get rid of it permanently, please tell me because it is very annoying.
Thanks Computer_User |

I have heard good and bad things about Limewire, maybe some people who use it can comment? I have heard that it has no spyware but I have also heard that it is loaded with it, maybe older versions where bad? I don’t use P2P anymore but I used to use K Lite++. I really dont think any of them are "good" though, they all have shortcomings and you always risk downloading a virus or something else nasty.

Don't use Kazaa to download music you may get sued. I'm using Ares Galaxy now and it works out great for me.

My uncle uses Limewire and I was also hoping someone may respond if they use it. So far, it is ok and he says it works fine. Thanks dave computer, I will look it up and see if I like it. Any other suggestions and advice are welcome.

I used Kazaa Lite K++ up until just a couple of weeks ago when it seemed that the amount of users dropped off significantly... 'Dont know why, but it went from 900,000 users to around 30,000 users.
I have heard great things about LimeWire... I have heard (haven't used it yet) that you can pretty much find whatever you want, music wise, and no spyware on LimeWire. |

I really like Ares, mind you I do find it has slowed down a little bit. Limewire is the second P2P I will go to, just about anything I want to find, I can. I don't mind the program minus it always asking me if I want to upgrade to pro at program start up. Winmx is number 3 in my list. It's alright but I find that most times if you want to download something, you need to jump in a queue (I love clicking to download and it starts, so being in a queue bugs me.) If I have a hard time finding something within those three (which I don't often) I sometimes go to Shareaza, but I find it slow as heck.

Kazaa Lite is considered an illegal hack of Kazaa.
You might also want to read this article (providing it isn’t down due to a ddos attack): http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/p2p this site has some safe alternatives that are just as good if not better Quote:

Thanks for the link...
...Someone needs too create a P2P client that works with all of the available networks out there. Kinda' like a Trillian for P2P. |

The best one I think is limewire, there is no spyware and adware once so ever and they fully rate there songs and they have fast speeds.

it seems that maybe no one knows what is going in the world, but the RIAA is cracking down on all p2p programs that are used to d/l copyright material. just google "RIAA and p2p". i know that not everyone is that naive, but i am just making sure as for downloading programs that are NOT illegal, i use WINMX, works great, no spyware or adware. unfortunately, doesn't matter what network you go to, it is going to be low on users cause of the RIAA. -neo |

I use soulseek for music (very easy to get a album using that) and shareaza for anything else.

For those who are curious about Limewire, I use it. the latest version doesnt appear to make any apparent harm to my system in terms of spyware. (although i havent ran an adware, S&D check in awhile. but the program runs rather stable (much stabler than Kazaa or K++, IMO, since that program seemed to crash now an then)

Guys, please don't turn this into a war, arguing about your stances on the P2P system. All that was asked for was a recommendation for a good P2P application.

Best program is probably Emule, second maybe Mammoth. Both spyware free. Also Soulseek is good but hella slow. Emule is kinda slow on starting downloads but there is very good selection.

Use BitTorrent. Then download Limewire Pro with it. Two of the fastest filesharing programs on earth.

Why not go to the store and buy the music you want? That way you have no way of being sued and no way of getting spyware on your PC that is provided with P2P applications?

One problem ive noticed when people buy CD's is that there are numerous circumstances of wasting 20 bucks for a CD and you only end up listening to one song (its sure happened to me in the past!). I have heard of websites where you can buy music off the net legally, and I would go there if I had the chance, but Im not too convinced that sending your credit card numbers is 100% secure! (yes, im a little paranoid of hackers! but ive got good reasons! dont I?
) Besides, I've barely downloaded music in the past several months. Not to mention kept that music on my hard drive
