Hello everyone,
I am trying to promote my xbox clan and I think the next step is a webpage. I tried to make one a while back but quickly learned that "ad-supported" means that you get 10 popups every page view. Go ahead and take a look at my attepmpt HERE. I made it with a 30 trial of Cute Site Builder. I want to create a site to promote the clan and give people a link to it when they ask. I am wondering: Are there any decent hosting services out there that are realatively ad-free? If so, please give me a link to them. (I think my ISP gives me a small site thats not ad obsessed.) ALSO: Is there any way to get your own domain name for free? Like clanboner.com? I don't think that im up to learning html and are there any good programs you can use to design sites? (Probably not for free) Do they cost alot? My goal is to make a site for my clan and that we can be proud of, even if we are "Clan_Boner." Thanks in advance.

As far as your site goes, it's not a bad start. I wouldn't, however, have black text on a dark grey background. It is difficult to read and should stand out. I would change the text or the background to a lighter grey if you wanted to keep the grey.

I'm not sure about free web hosting anymore. Haven't used any for a few years so I'm a little out of the loop, but I can give you the name of a free domain service. Goto http://www.dot.tk/ You can get a free yoursite.tk domain. All you have to do to keep it active is make sure that you get 25 or more hits a month useing the domain. You can't get .com or any of the other common extentions for free, but .tk has become fairly standard in the game community.

http://www.50free.com/ was a great free web host when I used them. I think I used them for about 6 months with a free .tk domain name, and then transfered over to a paid hosting service, and bought a .com domain name. Anyway, I really liked 50free.com, but I decided to go for a paid host to get a little more space so I could host streaming video. Hope this helps.

As far as web-design programs go, i'm not really sure what to tell you. I use Adobe GoLive, but it isn't exactly cheap. I'm sure there are lots of cheaper programs out there, I've just never looked at them because I like Adobe.
