Hold the Control Key the whole time for the following->

Double click on My Computer->View and slect Status Bar. Then click File Close.

Open IE and make sure that the status bar is visible. Then hold control (ctrl) and close it. Next, click start and go to run and type "explorer" (minus the quotes) once in explorer, make sure that the status bar is visible and go to tools> folder options, then click the view tab at the top, and click apply to all folders and subfolders, or somehting to that extent. then click apply or ok and you should be back in explorer. Hold down control as you did before and close explorer. that should fix it. hth
