Hi all,
Ok, this is a toughie. My parents need to recover an email that was deleted. Is this possible? The message was placed in the "Deleted Items" folder, until my dad came along and emptied it. So is this message gone forever? They are using Outlook Express 6. Their Rig: MSI 850 Pro5 Pentium IV 1.5GHz 256 MB RDRAM Chaintech GeForce FX 5200 128MB 120 gig Seagate HD Thanks in advance, ~sd |

Since the emails are not individual files, I doubt there's much chance. Each seperate mailbox is its own file.

Recovering Outlook Express e-mail is probably the simplest of deleted files to recover because they are intact in the bowels of the hard drive. This is what gets a lot of people in trouble when their computers get seized!
But being able to do it and your own ability to do it at free cost are two different things. To do it through command line requires an extreme knowledge of command line. The files are apparently in some very secret directory. The alternative is to find a utility specific for retrieving OE e-mail. None are free to my knowledge. Freeware general deleted file recovery programs won't open the directory in XP. R Mail is $29.95. But it has a demo that will at least allow you to see if it can recover what you want. Now is it worth $30?
