open web-page in new window? IE6
Is it possible in Internet Explorer 6 to have a new page open each time you go to a new web-site. I know this can be done manually from the file menu by clicking on "new window" or new page I think does it too. or short-cut keys ctrl+N or ctrl+alt+N but I was wondering if there is a setting somewhere that makes this a default action in IE 6.
Thanks in advance guys.

Are you trying to go to another website by clicking on a URL and want it to open in a new window? If so, just hold the 'shift' key down while left clicking the link. It will open the link in a new window.

Actually its for my wife, when she is trying to locate something on the web she prefers to be able to go back to one of the earlier sites that she visited to re check the information but she forgets where she has been and whcih site she visited. For some reason she wont use favourites of bookmarks. She wants the browser set up so as a new window opens every time she leaves a site to visit another one. Dont know if this is possible in IE6 or not. thanks scomac
StyStvy had a quick look at your pic will check it out later when I got more time. |

Maybe this is kind of off the subject a bit, but have you tried Mozilla Firefox? I like it (especially for the forums) since you can open new tabs within the main browser window. It makes it a bit easier to see where you've been since you can just scan thru the tabs. You see where you've been and click the appropriate tab. The other nice thing about Firefox, is by default it will open new links in a new window. It is pretty easy to integrate all your bookmarks/favorites and it will also import your history.
The other thing now that I said that last line is this. She can always open up the 'history' to see the websites she's been to. Scomac |

Thanks again scomac, I think I will try to get her to use the history to check where she has been as you suggested. She doesn't like changes so dont think I had better try to introduce her to a new browser, not just yet anyway.

Yes, I have to agree here. Go with Firefox 9.3. Much easier to open new windows and more secure than IE. The program is very similar to IE and won't take much time for her to get used to.
