IIS Web server not starting.
I've installed IIS on a laptop, because we need a local version of a website running on there for presentations where there will be no internet access. I have set it up twice now, and everything seems to be running fine. However once you log-out (or more likely when you shut down), the next time you log in... it doesn't work. I go and check the administrative tools -> services... and I find that the World Wide Web Provider (or something like that) is "starting..." I cannot stop, or start it... it gets stuck continually trying to start. I cant even re-install IIS because it is in use. Unless I load up into safe mode (because safe mode doesnt even try starting the service).
What could be causing this? |

What O/S?
Is the service set to manual, automatic, or disabled?

Does this PC have XP SP2 on it?

No SP2.
I took a look at the event logs, but I dont really see anything that seems like it would have anything to do with this. this is baffling
