WARNING

NewEgg has some bad habits:

- (re)selling damaged merchandise
- SHODDY packaging NOT in accordance with UPS requirements

Find another online retailer:

http://zipzoomfly.com
http://cdw.com

etc etc

NewEgg is so popular there are bunches of sites setup to warn people against shopping there.

Do you have proof? I'd like to see where you are drawing your opinions from.

When a product is sold on newegg it is either sold as OEM, retail or as "refurbished". With refurbished products, you don't know what you're getting, however newegg is still good about it. Most of the time, the product was just opened and sent back for whatever reason (it may have not been the "right" part).

As for OEM and retail parts, there is nothing wrong with them, nor the packaging. If anything, the shipping package is packed to excess. I've never had a problem with shipping.

And for the record, they ship FedEx.

Yeah they clearly state that refurbs are untested so buy at your own risk. They dont' hassle you about a return if the item you bought is broken, but it's stated all over their website that they don't test returns/refurbs so when buying used you're just taking a gamble. I don't have a problem with that personally.

There is no problem with Newegg. Go to http://www.resellerratings.com/ yourself to see what people have to say. Newegg has a fantastic rating, zipzoomfly slightly lower, and cdw.com has a horrible six month rating (on few data points, granted). I use Newegg, I recommend it to everybody, and I have never had any problems.

Just for a laugh I did a search for "hate newegg", sure enough there are some people out there who seem to have had a bad experience.

The most common complaint seemed to be cases and damage to them. Most of the rest were refurbished item issues. There were some RMA issues mentioned too. Given the number of times I have read here on pcmech about people damaging something themselves and RMA'ing it back cause it was 'damaged' I am more surprised at how lenient Neewegg is about the process than anything else.

Several don't like the fact that they do not ship internationally.

The most amusing part was reading the posts/reviews, I'd have to venture that a significant portion of them are from people who you'd never want as a customer yourself. You can please most people most of the time.......

I love the people that say they hate Newegg because they don't ship internationally. That's like hating McDonald's because you can't order a high-quality steak. Newegg chooses not to ship internationally, and they don't claim otherwise. It's not as if Newegg is hiding something or committing fraud.
