Win XP Pro internet connection problems

We have recently gotten a new Dell, installed DSL from centurytel and it worked fine for a few days. now it will dial up but will not load web pages. I am trying to think of the sequence of events. but it is possible that I install pcanywhere and then could not load. Century tells me it is not their problem and I feel it is a configuration problem but have checked and can not find the solution. I have reinstalled the DSL with the software supplied by Centurytel hoping it might cure any configuring problems... to no avail. The computer is a Dimension 2400 2.4 GHz, 512 DDR SDRAM. Is there some obvious item I must reconfigure? I am not familiar with XP at all, my computer uses Win200Pro I cant remember the command to run the windows program that releases the ip address or whatever.

to answer your question, I would think so but not sure. Let me explain, we are a handicapped facility, this computer is at a newly opened satelite center that is about an hour away, hence the need for PCAnywhere, (which slightly scares me on getting it setup but that is a whole other problem) I cant remember if I updated windows when we got the computer.... hadnt really thought about it...thought dell did that... *sighs* that's what I get for thinking...

UPDATE: My staff at the other center called centurytel, they tried to blame everything on zonealarm (which was uninstalled to please them earlier) so she took it upon herself to call Dell since the pc is only a couple weeks old. They walked her through several steps and told her that the configurations for the pc were all wrong and had her reinstall XP. They are to call her back and walk her through getting the DSL back up and running. They say it was a freak happening and was most likely a power surge of some kind. They claim that the programs I installed were not the cause. Sooooo, my next question will be... What is your opinion of PCAnywhere?
