2 problems: zone alarm & internet explorer
hi guys
i was wondering if any of you could please offer insight into these 2 problems i'm having (they're not related): 1. a while back, i tried to update the free zone alarm firewall i've been using, and instead of an update, the only thing zone labs seemed to offer was just a completely new version. so i downloaded it, installed it, and now i'm having a lot of problems with my internet connection not working right when z.a.'s running. i'll start it up (isp: (don't laugh!) wal mart connect (run by aol, i believe)), it'll dial & connect, but the wm connect home page never loads. the status bar at the bottom creeps slowly, but the page never loads. if i shut zone alarm off while this is happening, the page then quickly loads & there are no more problems. z.a. never pops up any dialog boxes or anything while this is occurring -- nothing happens except the page not loading right. i tried uninstalling all instances of z.a. & then reinstalling the new version, in case there were residual pieces of the old version causing interference, but that didn't help. i've heard good things about z.a., and would like to continue using it, but this problem is getting ridiculous. any ideas? 2. lately, when in ebay, i'm getting TONS of these internet explorer dialog boxes entitled "internet explorer script error." i've gotten them occasionally in the past, but now it's almost continuous -- i have to click buttons in 6 or so consecutive dialog boxes for every page that loads. the line where it describes the error frequently mentions "object expected." this all started pretty suddenly, and it's happening on 2 different household computers. help, please! thanks! |

I'm surprised you have heard "positive" comments about ZA. I'm personally not to impressed with their software and have heard nothing but complaints and issues in regards to their software.
Have you considered Norton? I run this and have had NO problems whatsoever! As for your second issue, is that more of a Javascript issue? Seems to me like it is, but I'm not sure. Anyone else? |

zone alarm
When you upgraded did you go to version 5? I did, and it created several problems for me. (win xp pro) I had kept the old version 4 exe on my hard drive and ended up going back to it and it seems to have solved the problems.
i would try to go back to the previous version you had and it may solve your problems. As far as your script errors I would try this. In internet explorer- go to tools- internet options- advanced- make sure disable script debugging (IE) is checked and display a notification abuot every script error is unchecked. Hope this helps.
