Preview Release of Firefox 1.0
Downloaded it yesterday (both Windows and Linux), impressions:
1) When started for the first time, a dialog appeared saying that some of my extensions weren't compatible with the new release, it provided an option to update them, I clicked the update button, Firefox downloaded the latest versions for all but one, I guess the developer of that extension hasn't updated it yet. 2) Middle click with bookmarks and toolbars now works. 3) A search bar now appears instead of a dialog when searching in a page, it has an option to highlight all matches. 4) To get rid of the few sites which were using extensions to install spyware, Firefox now has a list of trusted extension websites, update.mozilla.org is there by default, and it's possible to add other sites to the list. 5) Clicking a popup link while the page is loading no longer blocks the popup, and it's possible to open blocked popups. That's what I can think of right now, so far I like this release. More info and download |

I like it too. I haven't noticed any real differences yet, but still much better than IE.

Maybe I'll have to give this version a try. I can see why people like it, but for me, Opera just gets the job done the best (although certain websites being incompatible are annoying, like Macromedia Exchange, but oh well).

I upgraded from 0.8 to 1.0 and like it so far. Still super fast and haven't found any glitches that affect me.

Now what do they mean by "Preview Version"? Is it like a Beta? I have Firefox 0.7 and it's worked great for me.

hey aym_7 i had the same problem with update extensions but none of mine updated through firefox. I had to visist the developer's website and download it from them. So go their website from the extensions menu and do it that way. They might have an updated version firefox didn't find.
