I don't use, never have used, AOL. Customer backed up his addresses within AOL 5. After that we did a clean install of Win98 and he installed AOL 6. Now I don't have the slightest idea how to import those addresses into the new install. Can someone please step me through the process?
Thanks,
Alan

I could be wrong, but in the browser, isn't there a Import/Export in the file tab? If you know where you exported them; you should be able to Import.

I think

AOL's address book is different from the Outlook Express type address book I would expect from within the browser. As I recall (and this was a couple of months ago) the export function and instructions in AOL5 were within AOL screens and not in the browser tabs. I tried soon thereafter to import the AOL addresses but the instructions I got in AOL5 were not good in AOL6. I am hopeful that an AOL savy person can come to the rescue here with some instructions.
Thanks Carlgif,
Alan

One of the links at this site will have the answer .
http://www.aoleave.com/

America Online software automatically encodes email attachments
using MIME. If your AOL email reader can't handle an attachment,
it automatically gets translated into a file with an .mme extension.
You can use WinZip to translate these files back to their original
form, since it automatically sets up association for this file
type when you install it. Just find the file in your Windows
Explorer and double-click it; WinZip will take over from there.

Yes, but

I want to import their address book which was saved in 5.0 into 6.0. They are not leaving AOL (although I would be tickled silly if they were interested in that). What are the commands, someone, in AOL6 to import the AOL5 address book?
The link is delicious, Jmatt. I am sure I will find a use for it in the very near future. If all else fails I will try it and import the addresses into Outlook Express.
thanks,
Alan
