Which Browser
Which browser are you using? Just curious. I use IE, I know everybody is saying switch to firefox, but I havent had a third of the problems everybody else has (eg. spyware), and i don't use a blocker either, I use scanners thuogh. I did try to switch once, started using it and planning to make it my default browser but it annoyed me too much. Was slower, eats memory like a - well somthing that eats a lot of memory. Miss my google toolbar. Also the way it loads drives me cukoo. That's just my opinion and how I found it.

I use Firefox the most. For a long time it was Opera, then Mozilla and now Firefox.

I like Firefox, but I'm still using Opera as my primary browser. Reasons are as follows - I have never liked IE and will do anything to avoid using it. Netscape 4.x was getting more and more unusable and Netscape 6 was just a pile of crap. I installed Opera and liked it. This was before Mozilla was really viable and before the Firefox project existed. If I like something and it does what I need, I stick with it - I need a better reason to change than just "because it's new and it's there".

Firefox...easy to use, very versatile. MSIE worked fine for me too, except some of the stuff that came in along with it, cookies which are generally relatively unharmful, weren't good. I also do use Netscape - that's for the Mac...works well, has me satisfied.

I never had a problem at all with IE, only a few tracking cookies, although I have seen friends computers go down with spyware. The only problem I had with IE was silly things, like how it doesn't display pages propely, all the time, even if they are coded according to W3C standards. Because I do some website design, I decided I needed something that was more standards centerlised. So I switched to Firefox, first it was only for my website design, but once I changed the theme, and added extensions like Mouse Guestures it was a lot more functional than IE, and I could personilise it. I have never looked back at IE yet.

The best extensions (plug-in/add-ons) AdBlock - FoxyTunes (lets you run your media player through your web-browser) - NukeAnything (lets you delete anything from your page, like annoying flashing banners or whatever - they can be restored by refreshing the page) - and GooglePReview, that puts thumbnails of the webpages next to Google search results. Very neat stuff! -Chad |

I've been using Opera since before FireFox was a worthy alternative, and there doesn't seem to be a reason to switch at this moment (they're both great browsers). Now IE, that IS a reason to switch; about anything should be better.

There are extenstions for pagerank and you can add other search engines - Google Images, Froogle, Google News, Amazon, eBay, Dictionary.com, half.com, Yahoo, etc. (those are just some of the ones I have - there are a lot more you can get). It's very easy to pick which on you want to use - they are all on the toolbar. Now you do have to install those other engines, but it's as easy as a couple of clicks and restarting FireFox. It even has a Gmail-checker, if you have Gmail. I don't know what a "up one level" button would do, so I can't say if FireFox can do that or not. But the "find in this page" thing can be added, too I think. Or you can just hit ctrl+f and a box will open for find in page. I'm not trying to pressure you to switch, I'm just letting you know that you can do a lot (if not all) of the things you are talking about in FireFox. -Chad |

I don't mind even if you trying to making switch, I want to know those kinda things, I'll have to get those plugins and try it again. All "up one level" does go up one folder at any site by clicking a button, again it's not very important and it can easily be done in the address bar but it's kinda handy. If I like these plugins a lot, I'll just have to get used to some of the little things I don't like, afterall they are only little. |

I've tried Firefox but went back to IE. Just what you're used too I guess. All my machines use IE and have never had a problem.
