Super noob on the net.
Hi, hope someone can help.
My mum is getting connected on Thursday, shes never been on the web before and I just know I'm going to get bombarded with phone calls from Thursday onwards. "How do I do this", "Whats all this about", "Why's this not working" and so on. Just wanted to know if anybody knows any really good sites for helping the super noob around the web?. Its got to be real basic, just to get her going. Please help if you can, dont really want to unplug phone

For a first step you should make sure she knows about security and gets a firewall and antivirus put on her computer there are lots of threads in the system security and privacy section.

.Yeah she has security, I put it on last weekend, although it needs updating when shes connected kind of hoping it will do that automatically for her, fingers crossed. What she really needs is something real basic, like how to find her way around the web following links and such like. I really need to go and show her, and sit down with her for the day but she lives far away, and I cant get there for a while with being so busy at work. |

You could always use remote desktop (assuming you have XP Pro) or VNC to give her a demo of what she has to do to use the internet etc. Also it makes troubleshooting and software repairs like this, rather than other the phone, but you also have to consider security.
