Hello... For awhile now I've had problems with my IE freezing up on going to web pages...
the program itself isn't frozen (ie you can still use file, edit, view, type in a new address etc...). I'll be cruising along and all of a sudden it stops going. I'll click on a link, and nothing comes up in the bottom left hand corner (no downloading page or finding site etc - and the hourglass only shows when hovering the mouse pointer over the top of IE, not when in the web page window) After an undetermined amount of time (2-30seconds), all of a sudden it kicks in and starts going again. I always thought it was my computer, but my G/F got a new gateway and it did the exact same thing. It's also with 3 different ISP's. I've read several microsoft articles on freeze ups with IE, but they really don't apply...and the fact that it happened with 2 different computers is bugging me Thank you for all who took time to read and reply... I believe what you have is normal internet lag. During some parts of the day the internet slows tremendously as it tries to accomodate everybody. It takes a few seconds to get the attention of the computer you are connecting to. As an experiment, try staying up until 2-3 am (assuming you are in the US) and see if the lag doesn't disappear.

I doubt that this is an indication of you being watched. Please post some more info and specs (machine type, OS, IE version, connection type etc..)

Celeron 550Mhz, Windows ME, IE Version is one that comes with ME (I think 5.5). Connection is 56k...
I always thought it was my machine, but my girlfriend's new computer did the exact same thing.... it happened in 2 different locations where I've lived, and with 3 different ISP's... I do appreciate all responses...been putting my G/F through hell with my paranoia...she thinks I'm paranoid schizo... ... thanks again for any more replies [Edited by dinoman on 04-15-2001 at 07:05 PM] |
