I think but could be wrong
I think M$ is waiting to see what everyone likes the best out of this new browser and then build it into IE (BUT I could be wrong) |

i doubt mozilla would let M$ corrupt firefox. it is based on the netscape browser not the IE browser. i would like to see tabbed browsing on microsoft though. the included popup blocker and activeX controls in IE with SP2 is a good step forward.

M$ doesn't really consider anything a threat since they will just steal it and say that the invented it. I can't think of one truly original idea that M$ has had. M$ has already announced that they will introduce tabbed browsing in the next gen IE, probably with the Longhorn release. If M$ would spend 1/100000 of their money being original rather than ripping people off, we probably would have much better software than we have now.

What's wrong with them using others' work/ideas?? If you build a computer using a new transistor, and I see that I can either use it to make my own computer better, or I can see a better way of using it, what's wrong with that?? It leads to better competition, and therefore products for the consumer.
It's only when you rip off others' intellectual property, not the idea, that it becomes a problem Last edited by Jaggannath; 11-12-2004 at 11:37 PM. |

I don't know...I use both IE and Firefox. I like Firefox because it's more streamlined and faster. But there are yet some plugins required for viewing a select few sites that FF does not incorporate or have available, so I keep IE on hand for those sites.

Whoops! Nevermind what I said in my prior post. I just upgraded to 1.0 and it seems they have fixed the plugins to include more Java.

I wonder if M$ ever put tabbed browsing in IE6 if FF would view that as a threat |

Tabbed browsing has been around for 10 years. The first tabbed browser was GNN. Opera had it before Mozilla.

Is there a good program out there that will make IE have tabs?

i just recently switched to firefox and find it much more user friendly i at first was about to delete it since i had downloaded 1.0PR and was sick of the frequent crashes and the send reports but now w/ 1.0 i like it better for its costomability as well
p.s. M$ take that ff is here to stay

I like that Firefox offers some much-needed competition to MS in one department at least but I personally use IE6.
I did use FF briefly but I found it awkward juggling through two browsers (certain programs like OE were still linked to IE). I don't find IE that bad anyway, especially, as some already mentioned, with the new security features in SP2. But that said, long live Firefox! |
