Odd connectivity-related browsing bug

Hi all,

I hope I am not posting a question that's been answered 100 times, but I can't see anything about it so far

I use ADSL on a small, four-machine home wireless network. When browsing, occasionally I get my dialup dialogue box popping up as if I've lost the connection. I just cancel this; and then if I click on a non-cached link, I get the little "connect" or "work offline" dialogue box. Clicking "connect" here works just fine.

I know I'm not actually losing my internet connection, because other machines on the network work fine, and even non-browsing activities (such as checking email) work fine on the machine while this happens. It seems to be *possibly* related to visiting a site with a hosted graphic which is not available, but this is something of a guess.

Any ideas what I can do to prevent this happening? It seems to be getting more and more common, even on websites which I am pretty sure would never have broken links (eg the BBC News homepage).

Thanks in advance.

Control Panel - Internet Options - Connections - "never dial a connection".
