I know, glc, I know. Completely uninstalled 4.74, I mean everything related in every manner. Installed 4.75, same problem. Uninstalled completely and tried 4.76, same problem.

Problem - mouse and every icon on window (while Netscape open) start doing a breakdance, jumping all over the place. Can't do anything control wise, except hit reset button on pc. There is nothing running elsewhere. Surely, MSIE isn't getting jealous and causing havoc all of a sudden.

I can do w/o Netscape, but someone else cannot. Opera and MSIE 5.5 don't exhibit the problem.

Hey Sarge, did you just install a mouse? ... or make any other recent changes?

Nada, but whatever it was it quit. Dangdest thing I ever saw - only NS was affected, and 3 versions at that.

Hey Sarge, are you running this update by smart download? I sincerely hope not, AOL got caught putting spyware in the damn thing.

Download the entire executable from ftp://ftp.netscape.com and see if that makes a difference. And of course, custom install without the extra addon crap like Net2Phone and Palm Sync.

If you download the "jar updater" manually and save it to disk, then open it in Netscape, this will update the version without dealing with the smart download.

Never use smart update - just the ftp like glc suggested long ago.

Please tell me WHY I should not use Smart Update? I am having all kinds of problems with Netscape (which I didn't before I "updated" to 4.76. But what is the reason for Smart Update not being a good thing. Does it not take you to Netscape.com anyway?

Smart Update is not Smart Download. However, I still prefer manually downloading the jar updater via FTP because the last thing I want to do is register with Netcenter Spamfactory courtesy of AOL.

Sorry about the mix up on the smart update/download.
I'm not trying to stop anyone from using Netscape, just thought I'd pass that on.
