Yahoo Mail Storage increase
My Yahoo account just got upgraded from 100 to 250 mb. They probably did this to get even with hotmail (literally).
It would be cool if hotmail now went to 300 and then yahoo to 350 and the hotmail to 400 etc. Till they offer us more email space than we have hard-drive space |

Yeah I just posted a similar post. I was unaware that someone had already commented about this. I feel that the email companys will probably always want to be one step ahead of the other one so DO look for increases just not right away. I prefere Yahoo to Hotmail anyway.

The only time I use hotmail is at school. It is the only one out of the three that attachements work with the schools javascript settings, don't know why, and probably won't ever find out. At home I use POP3, and my host claims I have 500 mailboxes available, each with 1GB of storage. Maybe I should fill them all up, and see if it is still 1Gb. I prefere POP3 over everything else.

I use both GMail and Y!, but Yahoo! seems to be a very good service for how much you have to pay (approximately no money
). Overall, I like it.kram

I know these are generic advantages available with any web based email, but I have had Hotmail so long that it is hard to change. Besides I don't want to learn a new email address.

I guess, I'm a bit different, if I see something better I just change. And if I wouldn't want to change my address, just set up forwarding. |

I don't care who uses what either. I just don't see why some people hate it so much. In fact I have a Yahoo account for miscelaneous stuff I sign up for and don't want to use my main email. It's a lot easier to sign into the Yahoo account than it is to sign in and out of two Hotmail accounts.

Well, when I have used it, it was hard to navigate. Yahoo was much simpler. I don't use MSN Messenger, don't know anyone on it, and it seems kind of gimicky to me. Plus while I was riding high with 6MB mail, everyone I wanted to send videos and pics to on hotmail kept getting bounced back. I have no idea why someone would have choosen their 2MB mail when 6MB was free from yahoo, which integrates nice with its own messenger I might add.
Even tho hotmail has bigger boxes now, i think, it will still linger in my mind that they aren't good b/c Yahoo has 250MB now, great filters, searchable mail, yahoo IM integration plus loads other deals just for signing up with yahoo, like access to geocities and their music broadcasting program/site called Launch. Yahoo makes it easy. You won't see me switching anytime soon. |

I still don't see how MSN Messenger is gimmicky though. It is rather straightforward with nice features.

Okay, I will hold judgment on it until I use it more (MSN Messenger) but you can't deny yahoo and aim are more popular. I seriously have never met anyone who uses msn im.

Well I haven't met anyone that uses AIM. I know some people that use Yahoo IM along with MSN Messenger but no one that uses AIM. I don't see why AIM is so popular. I think it's crap. With all that junk in puts on you PC I will never touch it even if I do know someone that uses it.

I'm with you here HiHo... I've had no problems with hotmail, it's junk filters are excellent, and to be completely honest I've never tried another companies. I wish I'd thought of that trick of having 2 accounts on different servers so that I didn't have to log out of hotmail each time I wanted to check my junk email account |

i really like Yahoo mail, have had a hotmail account for years but the 2MB cap was just hopeless and the 30-45 day limit i didn't like either.I dont use MSN mess or Yahoo mess just AOL because most of my friends have or use to have AOL dialup before broadband.
Shame that yahoo uk has changed there homepage and got rid of the "personal assistant" which i thought was good and useful and put some junky personal finance thing in it's place which does not interest me at all. Whats the time limits on Y!, Hotmail and Gmail? do they close down/reset after a certain amount of time unused?

If you don't log into your account for a certain amount of time it will be closed. I believe that's true for most free email accounts.

I have both yahoo and hotmail. I like hotmail better because it seems to me that the junk filter better, the one on my yahoo account lets a whole lot more through. Hotmail's interface is slightly more dificult to navigate but it's in reality very simple. I use aol, msn, and aol messengers. I like yahoo best, msn, then aol. My thoughts on this are that they are all a matter of preference.
