how to setup 2000 server as a web/ftp host
hello, i want to setup a small website (less than 10 pages and less than 50 hits a day) and an ftp server apart from that. i don't need a domain name (i'll just use the ip address, there will only be about 6 people who can get to it. can anyone help me with it or link me to a good tutorial. remember, this is the first time i have ever used any server OS.
thanks

First of all, does your ISP allow servers?
You don't need a server OS. Win2K Pro and XP Pro has IIS, and you can install Apache and a FTP server program on just about any OS. |

i didn't know that the ISP had to allow servers. i'll check on that.
i have seen different programs that will let you setup a server on just about any OS but i got a copy of win2k server from my A+ class. it was some kind of deal with msdn.com or something. every student got a copy of just about ever MS OS out there including a build of Longhorn. its pretty sweet. |
