what program or file actually loads the pages when your surfing the
internet? At work we have my bosses computer that loads are home page fast then just hangs with the processor locked at 100 percent, then it loads completely after 30 secounds or so.All the other computers just keep loading untill the page is loaded completely. Its hard to tell if its something else on this machine or internet explorer itself.I shutdown all programs on computer one at a time with no help, opened a html doc on the cdrom and it also loaded slow with Ie loading it.Any Ideals on where to go to figure this out?I really wanted to know the actual viewer file that loades the pages. Also word does the same thing on this machine. mq1 |

IE decodes html code and displays the images and text as the page builder created it, there could be a number of factors causing this. Pretty much everything in IE is built in.
Just asking, but when you say "hangs with the processor locked at 100 percent," do you mean the progress bar at the bottom? this is the download progress not the load on the CPU. Could be some of the following: * Slower connection speed to the internet (dial up vs ADSL eg) * Cache settings reloading pages and images * PC specs (RAM, CPU, graphics card) * Different versions of IE * Image types * Browser settings * the list goes on... |

Thanks for responding so quick there hyper. The machines are new at
work with pent4 at 4gig and xp pro with Ie sp1 and it actally looks like the processor is switching to another program right in the middle of loading the pages and takes all its time.It only does it when laoding our home page or html format it looks like so far.we are a global company with our own help desk, but just trying to figure this out for myself.I always have a hard time on figuring out software issures, but can usually figure out any hardware issues. So to understand when ie loads page it actually decodes the page the way it was made, then shows it on the screen. It looks like in our case of loading slow it decodes then hangs before refreshing the screen.Thats why I ask also if there is a actaul exc for the viewer itself. This still works, but just aggrevating loading slow and it has bugged me,but Its beyond me now. mq1 |

If I understand you, your computer loads your company's homepage slower than other computers of a similar type.
If there is truly reason for you to expect your computer to run at the same speed as other computers in your office, then you might want to try searching for spyware/adware on your computer. This can possibly cause the problems you describe. I suggest (if your company's policy is O.K. with it) that you download and run Adaware and Spybot S&D. They are both free. |
