Good news for NTL users!

with the email being a mess lately, heres some good news!..

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/11/03/ntl_q3_04/

so people who initially signed up for 150kb/s will end up with 1mb/s after the new year! which was their fastest back then..
remembering their last speed increase though, i can't see it coming on schedule lol. lets hope they actually increase upload speed too this time! (notice there is no mention of it) i think 2mb/s with 128kb/s upload would be BEYOND rediculous.. or 1mb/s down with 64kb/s up!!
if they dont upgrade the upload speed (which i'm not so sure they will) then it will be virtually like a satellite connection, hell fast dl but ISDN or dial up upload!

i'm considering 'downgrading' from 750kb/s to 1mb/s.. but i'd like to try out 2mb/s for a while first perhaps , and that 5gb/month limit on the 1mbs looks like it might be cutting it fine. its starting to look more like pay per use than for speed. i probably wouldn't download >5gb in a month but i dont like the idea. if i had like a linux moment its only like 5 isos plus regular useage..
does anyone know if the download limits were the same before? or if they have changed atall..

they are trying to charge a £25 'administration fee'.. but i'm guessing if u have had it longer than 12 months u can just cancel and sign up again and skip the charge and they might even give u a better deal too

Its quite good compared to some figures I saw floating around that I believe BT and some other ISPs were considering. Anyway, they would have to get around to setting a cap, monitoring the cap, enforcing the cap, and charging/dealing with overusage. Considering this is NTL, it could take them forever to do it.

Besides, I am happy tha my connection is going up to 2mb (and my parents are footing the bill).
